Trend Tuesday: Smoky lower lid
February 5, 2013 in Trends
I’ve always been a sucker for a good smoky eye. It’s the quintessential sultry, edgy, sexy makeup look. You wanna turn heads? Master the art of a great smoky eye.
Because I love the little tweaks makeup artists do to the classic smokey eye every season I knew I wanted to try one of the looks from Spring 2013: the smoky lower lid.

Seen at both Diane von Furstenburg and Lanvin, this look is definitely simple enough to give a try. What I like about this look is that since it’s only on the bottom lid it gives the look of a smoky eye while being completely daytime appropriate.
To be completely honest, I don’t love the way it looks on me. I’m sure if I had someone who knew what they were doing had applied my makeup I’d be totally in love. But when I did it it just managed to make my eyes look droopier than they are. Not exactly the look I was going for. Maybe if I bring the dark brown shade in close to the inner corner of my eye that would alleviate the problem. For now, I’ll stick with the classic.
What do you think of this trend? Think you’ll give it a try?

Definitely gotta use a soft color (not black) like photo #1 and your photo. Do you think it would be something a person with small eyes might benefit from?
One of the first things I noticed after applying this look was that my eyes looked bigger. I’m no expert, but I’d definitely say this eye makeup makes eyes appear larger.
