Winter Pastels: As close to Spring as it gets
January 24, 2013 in Fashion
It’s that time of year. The dregs of January. We’re far enough in winter that we can’t quite remember what warm weather felt like and we’re too far from spring to really believe it’s coming. And the inversion isn’t helping.
Raise your hand if you’re ready for spring.*
In my opinion, anything you can do to distract yourself until March is a good thing. One style distraction I’ve been enjoying lately is winter pastels. While I can’t wear pastels very well (they just don’t flatter my skin tone), I just love the look of light, airy, springy colors against the contrasting backdrop of winter.
Whether you just add a bit of pastel to an outfit with a scarf or go a bit further with, perhaps, a pastel sweater with winter white jeans, it just seems like a nice way to bring in some spring while we try to remember what warm dinners outside felt like. And those pastel colors will come in mighty handy when transitioning in to spring.
How do you work pastels in to winter? Do you think they work, or should they be left to warmer, sunny weather?
*I’m going to go ahead and assume that anyone not raising their hand either lives where there isn’t real winter or simply can’t be trusted

While I love all of the beautiful clothes in this post – your wit is by far the best part! Does it count twice if both my hands are raised?!
Oh, you are too kind! Thank you!
